Clinical Nurse

About the Role

Walhallow Aboriginal Corporation Health Service is seeking a Clinical Nurse to support the delivery of primary healthcare services at our Coledale clinic. This role works closely with the Practice Manager, Aboriginal Health Practitioners and the wider clinical team to provide culturally safe, high quality care to community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the delivery of primary healthcare services
  • Conduct triage, pre-screening, health checks and assessments
  • Support GP Management Plans and clinical procedures including immunisations, wound care, ECGs and spirometry
  • Maintain infection control, hygiene and cold chain standards
  • Manage patient records, recalls and clinic documentation
  • Support Medicare billing and continuous quality improvement activities
  • Monitor clinic stock, consumables and equipment
  • Participate in daily scrums and clinic planning

About You

  • Bachelor of Nursing and current AHPRA registration
  • Experience working within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services
  • Knowledge of chronic disease management and preventative health
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
  • Understanding of culturally safe healthcare
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Current WWCC, NSW Police Check, First Aid Certificate and NSW Driver’s Licence
  • Familiarity with Medicare Billing (MBS items)
  • Willingness to engage respectfully with Aboriginal communities

We are seeking an Aboriginal Health Education Officer to join our Quirindi team. This identified role supports the delivery of culturally appropriate health education, mentoring and community programs across the Liverpool Plains region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver health education programs, workshops and community activities
  • Support youth and adult mentoring programs
  • Work alongside local organisations and health services
  • Assist with program evaluation and reporting
  • Engage with community to identify local health needs
  • Transport patients to appointments and services

About You

  • Certificate III in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and community health
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Current WWCC and Police Check
  • Basic computer and reporting skills

General Practitioner

📍QUIRINDI, NSW

About the role:

Walhallow Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a full-time General Practitioner to join our team, based in Quirindi, NSW.

As a General Practitioner at WAC, you will play a vital role in delivering primary healthcare services to Aboriginal communities. Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will focus on high-quality clinical care, compliance, and community health initiatives. More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing quality clinical care, including assessments, treatment, and preventative strategies tailored to the community’s needs
  • Developing and implementing GP management plans to support improved health outcomes
  • Supporting the organisation’s compliance with AGPAL accreditation and Medicare MBS requirements
  • Participating in community-based initiatives such as school and corrections visits
  • Supervising clinical students and promoting skill development among staff
  • Collaborating with allied health professionals and community stakeholders to address health challenges holistically

About you:

To qualify, you will need AHPRA registration and a tertiary qualification in Medicine. A minimum of 3 years of experience as a General Practitioner will also be essential.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Relevant post-graduate qualifications (e.g., FRACGP, FACCRM, MPH)
  • Accreditation as a GP supervisor with ACCRM or RACGP
  • Experience working in Aboriginal Health or community-controlled health services
  • Strong knowledge of Aboriginal health, community health, preventative care, chronic disease management, and maternal health
  • Knowledge of AGPAL accreditation requirements and Medicare MBS
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships within Aboriginal communities
  • A commitment to working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary model alongside nurses and Aboriginal health workers
  • A valid Class “C” driver’s licence and the ability to hold relevant security clearances
